As disappointing as it is that 60 fps isn’t the standard, the point, really, is that developers now have more power on tap to make the games they want the way they want.
If we mandated that developers make ONLY 60fps titles, it would have a severe impact on their creative freedom. They simply wouldn’t be able to do things the way they wanted, and would be forced to make concessions to hit sixty frames.
Developers should be able to make the games they see fit, and setting a frame rate requirement would hamper that.
Still, with the extra power, we should be seeing 60 fps a lot more often.
